Some calls can cost fifteen cents to two dollars when placed from marine satellite phones or cost even more when made to a satellite phone from a mobile phone or landline phone. The good news is that the person you call from a sat phone usually doesn’t have to pay anything. So this is clearly a case of don’t call the “boss”, he’ll call you! Bear in mind that all satellite companies are trying to remain competitive and so may offer special deals on unlimited calling or even a prepaid plan.
There are many advantages that could come from using marine satellite phones. You could make important phone calls at any time, receive phone calls at anytime or even conference while out on the ocean. Another advantage of Marine sat phones is that unlike cellular phones or terrestrial cell antennas, they are not especially prone to natural disasters. Natural disasters usually take out cell towers and terrestrial lines. With marine satellite phones, since the connection happens from space and your ship, you are always protected and connected.
If you frequently travel or must be available at all times even when you’re out at sea, then buying marine satellite phones is a shrewd move.
